Being renewed in our mind and experiencing change is a lot like the caterpillar turning into a butterfly.  The caterpillar has everything within it to become a butterfly, yet it has to shed its old in order to experience the new. It’s much like that with change and this is what Christ invites us to.
Exercise #1 – Watch
By watching, what I mean is to observe. Observe what’s going on with your body, with your heart, are you anxious or uptight? Did somebody say something that triggered a strong emotion in you? What are the different things that are going on? We have to become an observer of what is happening in our world, and that starts with becoming aware of what’s happening inside.
Exercise #2 – Wait
Sometimes when we hear the word wait, we think of waiting for an appointment, and difficulty sitting still. The waiting that the Bible talks about is a quieting and a stillness of the heart and the mind until we actually become still in God’s presence and we wait. From Exercise #1, we take all that we have become aware of and we bring it into the presence of Christ and we allow it to be laid at His feet and sit still and we wait. We wait so that His words can speak to our heart, so that we can yield and release every distraction. Jesus said, “We live not by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. It is when we quietly wait that we can hear that proceeding word that feeds us to the next step.
Exercise #3 – Walk
This is where we take action. Do you need to let go of something? Do you need to talk to somebody about something? Do you need to make a change in your thinking or your behavior? This part is crucial because we’ve got to move forward. The exchange is made when we let go of the old and we begin to walk in the new. The new is here. God’s grace and the power to make a change is here. You don’t have to wait for it. Take that step, it’s time to walk.
Each time we work this Power Set, we strengthen our new nature and we become more like Christ.
